Btw, over the holidays does anybody fancy pratting about a bit and trying a velodrome miss and out session, the one where there is a sprint every two laps. If we give it a go, so we know how it works we could then do it as one stage of the league one month. If people fancy it I'll create a doodle so we can find the time when most people wpould be available. I've tried it but never had other people join so am completely new to it.
I will if time suits, as in not between burning the turkey and overcooked sprouts....

Really interesting. My climbing technique (ITRW) is to stand for half a km and sit half a km and keep that going for as long as I can on long clmbs. When I stand I change up one or two gears and when I sit I change back down. I find it works really well, but it can put a strain on the legs. However I've noticed in bkool that when I get out of the saddle there isn't the same increase in power, unless i can keep a good rhythmn going but if I can there is a definite gain to be had, especially on really steep bits. Don't worry about the creaks, you're just getting old, you'll get used to it!....believe me!

In the real world I would rock the bike sideways, but that is only possible to a certain extent when locked on to a trainer, hence the squeaking from the frame or trainer. I have tried standing up in a few of your other routes, but didn’t change into a harder gear at those times, resulting in me producing less watts than when just staying in the saddle. Today I changed gears and that produced more watts.

Standing up on a Bkool Pro is even more akward, as you have to keep the pressure on the roller to gain speed. That never worked for me, but some people strapped their bike onto the Bkool, and that made it work.

I stand up and go a gear up and do that for as long as I can manage before dropping to the seat and lower gear. Its definitely more efficient for me on anything above 6% and then once the 3% arrives it feels like I can up the gears massively. I think if the next race started at 12% for 5km I'd be able to fly with whatever came after it

when I know I'm going to stand I usually increase the cadence and then stand at the very end of the preceeding section and change up gear (or not depending on the change of gradient) in order to try to keep the momentum going into the harder section.

The bad news is that it looks like you didn't do it as a league ride. Did you select it from your league rides that appear in the simulator ? I have the time so if you want to do it again and stop after a couple of kms I'll get the time adjusted to reflect your actual time ....or you can join us on Saturday and hang on to my attractive rear wheel...actually it's a hideous red trainer tyre that makes me barf when i look at it!

I looked on the league and saw the stage, added a few some of you guys on here, scheduled it for tonight and rode it. I am sure it came up with league on the PC scree n aswell.
Oh well I suppose will have to suffer again 😭

Not 100% sure, but I think if you 'challenge' a league ride it stays as a league ride, but if you 'copy' a league ride it loses the link to the league.

Ok thanks. Thinking about it I did see chain gang with the name of the course, but clicked on programmed one instead as I added some of you guys.
I'll have to look at the chain gang one and see if there are any of you guys there.

I always copy and that works fine (I add ghosts when I edit). Just make sure when in the simulator that you scroll down to the leagues section at the bottom. Problem is, that bkool has still not managed to display the rides in the order you want them to as you manage the scheduled rides in the webpage. That to me is a mystery. But God does work in mysterious ways. Maybe Bkool is God? That would explain a lot of the problems in the world today.

Ok, so weeks one and two pretty much done by everybody , just @AAAC 76C and @Marco72 with both stages to do and @Breedon with the lovely (scenery wise anyway) stage 2 to do. In order to try to have complete results I think @Del C should be given the same time for the stages he can't due for health reasons as his nearest rival @Whorty rather than be penalised. We all know he would have done them if he could and better that he doesn't!
Shame that this week's stage doesn't have a video, the Arreige is a beautiful, off the beaten track, cycling heaven area in southwest France with tough climbs but so, so much quieter than the more famous ones which get clogged with traffic in the summer. If anybody is looking for a holiday destination I can fully recommend it. My cycling club is having our spring training camp their this year and I cant wait to get back. This week's stage is one of the lesser climbs but don't go at it too hard after gently climbing at about 2 % for about 12 kms the last 5.8 kms ramp up significantly to about 6/7% average. See you all on Thursday..
I am back from Christmas travels but the decorating is still not finished. I am going to and try and get back into the swing soon
