I deleted my smartass reply because it seemed in poor taste. It was meant to make fun of our president’s insane actions but a pandemic isn’t anything to joke around about.
I just saw a player for @Goldwolfie ‘s team has it.
And I tried to reply to it in equally poor taste. But it refused to post as you had deleted. Something along the lines of Your president has actually made an exception for us Brits but says he's glad the Italians can't come because he never liked them anyway. On the plus side, I don't think the Italians want to go there right now in case Biden tries to smell their hair :stop:

He just announced you British are no longer welcome and I blamed it on @AAAC 76C using bad language. He said "blimming heckl!"

Why don’t you guys buy a proper trainer, get rid of that fairy dust and get the full “experience” of these mountain climbs? 🤔
My level of fitness doesn't merit me buying a direct drive.. But that probably isn't going to stop me from buying one as soon as I start riding again. This downtime has given me too much time to shop I've on line. Even though I'm not riding at all I'm thinking about buying new components to turn my mountain bike into a 1x12. It's a weird thing having bike lust.

Haha yes I just heard about UK being included in that. I doubt many would be willing to sit on a plane for 6 hours at the moment so probably not make much difference. Most people here already talking about cancelling their holidays.
Same here. Everything is being canceled to try to flatten the curve. I read where the UK is taking different approach of get it over with.
The U.S. has way fewer beds per population because health care is business over here. So we have to try to slow the rate down.

Thx for the fairy dust @perswe. I won't be accepting that one. I do wish I could climb 12%ramps at 21kms/hr.real shame because the first half felt real and good and chasing and slowly catching @AAAC 76C was great fun.
You near killed me.
I stupidly chased the bots at the beginning but soon realised that was not on the cards so I settled at a steady pace which I knew I could keep up.
When @keithaitch was almost on me I attacked hard hoping that he would be spent from chasing me but that did nothing but put me close to the edge so I had to let him go and settle back into a tempo hoping that I could give it all in the last km and catch him up but he just rode away.
I must admit I thought he was on his tandem and his wife had joined in.
Felt a bit dizzy in the shower afterwards so I had a couple more pumps of my Nitroligual.
Must get some more as I use it before every ride now and have not had any more 'events' since.

We are trying to flatten the curve as well to push it into the summer when the load on the NHS normally reduces.

I switched to the TACX wheel on trainer for the re-run yesterday for the main purpose of avoiding that 'experience', hadn't used that bike for a while and the front gear cable snapped/stretched/slipped (I'll take a look today) so I was riding on the big ring but still hitting 100RPM, not very realistic on an 8.5% incline. I abandoned the ride though, not out of some honourable reason but because I still hated it

Yes, I thought about hooking up the Bkool Pro and doing it again, but didn't see the point in "cheating" and hoping for fairy dust etc. The problem with the NEO is that it gives even a heavy rider like me the full experience all the way (up).
Only thing to do on a stage like is to stand up and grind, but as the trainer is almost stationary, you have to wiggle your body incl. knees in an unnatural way. Compare this to outdoors where you twist the bike from side to side and almost keep the body/knees stationary instead.

Doing this stationary grinding for small sections is OK, but 40-50 minutes is no fun for my knees...Should we have another stage of this kind, I'm tempted to just take the time penalty and skip it and save myself for some other riding elsewhere...

Its not exactly cheating when most of the time you actually get glue instead of fairy dust. A good example of this is the fact you usually kick my ass these days whereas when we were both on pro's we were far more even. Up hill is different of course as I have a weight advantage. I bet you can't beat you time by using the pro. There's a challenge for you ^_^
