Is it just me, or does Mywhoosh seem to require massive computing resources?

No, it just needs some decent hardware because it uses Unreal Engine 5, which requires MacOS 14.5 and not decade old integrated graphics.

Must be a very old Mac (from before 2018) if you can’t update to Sonoma (14.5)!

Yes. It’s pre 2018. I have a newer one inside the house. The bike shed one has been flawless. The GTA bike had to be on a PC so I loaded it in a laptop. It took an extreme amount of space- 100 gigs.
It got very frustrating because I kept failing and. Had to start over. It’s too bad I’m not a gamer because I liked the idea of unlimited turns and abilities to explore.
