I started watching cycling around the time Lance Armstrong started winning. I think at that point there was a lot of machismo around grinding the lowest gear possible. But maybe he was one of the first guys to have a much higher cadence style.

With me it was Indurain. On the Pokojišče climb I was able to push 260W at just over 65 cadence on the steep bits and whilst that's metabolically efficient, it's also ultimately wearing. My average cadence on the whole climb was 71, but on normal rides it's up around 90.

Yes for me like I showed on that earlier post it’s just another source of “you’ve been beaten” notifications.

I once tried to get past @JuhaL on a downhill segment in a Montana ride but Lost in the last 10 feet. Very demoralizing especially when he took his hands off the handlebar and shook his arms. Deliberately rubbing it in.
