It's a good price for a 9" tablet. Android 4.2 is upto date and the processor is OK.

If you are looking for a 'named make' tablet then you are talking about £150 each !

The Maxtouch tablet's spec is ok, but not super. The screen and camera resolutions are disappointing, but for the price, you shouldn't complain.

That Tesco Hudl tablet's spec is a lot better, but it does cost £50 more, though that price can be reduced if you have any ClubCard vouchers.

It should be ok. I have a Samsung Tab 2 7" with a dual core 1ghz processor, the one you point to is single core 1.5GHZ

The resolution is a little low for a 9" and the ram is 512 where many are 1gb (excluding the 8gb expansion).

It's probably worth a punt at that price though.

The only thing that is a little sketchy. It says 8gb storage and it has a Memory slot. Now if it's 8gb built in with an additional memory slot then great. If it's just 8gb card installed already, then it's a little low on storage and you'll want to upgrade the cards soon enough. Kids tend to put loads of apps on, or make silly videos and these start to eat space quite quickly.

My tab has 1gb RAM, 8gb storage and an additional 8gb memory card, which is more than enough.

I bought a similarly priced 7" from Maplin which was adequately speedy....but it went back because the WiFi reception was catasprophically bad. No signal at all in next room from router (where other devices were still showing "excellent").
I'd suggest checking the performance on that score out before handing device over to young 'uns.

I might take a look at the Tesco one.

They are ok and certainly would be fine for a 12 and 14 year old. They are not all that robust partuicularly around the usb and charger ports so make sure they are careful when plugging in and unplugging chargers etc.
