Should have persevered with my Duolingo Welsh. I don’t suppose the commentary is going to revolve about asking whether I like eating parsnips, so I might be a bit out of my depth.

There might be subtitles available. There often have been for rugby matches.

The reason S4C get these exclusive deals is because their commentary isn’t available in English.
It’s the same for rugby. RUC matches have an English commentary option, but the deal with Premier Sports to show European cup matches only has Welsh commentary.
They have had subtitles for the Tour in the past.

So I've checked that I can get S4C on my Virgin Media player but where will I find it on iplayer? I've had a quick look but can't see where it might be?

Channels (from a menu om the left which expands when you press left arrow). Go down the list of channels to S4C. If its not obvious from the shows listed go down those and at the foot select Schedule

Thanks @Mike_P Yes, I found that eventually but it says "Seico: Le Tour de France Not Available. Timings are 16:30 to 18:30. I don't know if the "Not Available" means it isn't available yet... ie. 16:30 or not available at all. It's all a mystery.

Just go into your settings and change your region to Wales.
That will definitely sort it.

I could make a simple change on my iplayer settings on my TV but that hasn't changed the "Not Available" message. If I go into the iplayer app on my laptop I can go into Settings which show my real postcode. I guess I could put a Welsh one in there but....

It's not available because you're looking at the channel schedule at a broadcast in the future! It will be fine, it'll be available come 4:30pm today
You don't need to change your region to Wales or change your postcode, S4C is available to everyone on iPlayer
If its only in Welsh its available in HD on Freesat 120 outside Wales rather than faffing around with iPlayer. It might be its available for some time on iPlayer.
In that case an alternative is to view the C5 highlights at 7 and then if something wasn't covered or covered too quickly fast forwarding through iPlayer as appropriate. Afterall many stages are non events for ages.

Well, it worked fine thanks.... not sure I can watch "proper" long stages listening the S4C commentary in Welsh. I'd have to turn the sound down low. It would be good if I could overlay a decent English commentary in sync.
I can't really judge the overall coverage as I'm not really a fan of TTT's.
