just jim I had a look at that tent and it does look like it has a little more living space (it says L=105 but i'm guessing thats a typo as it says size of living space 290) so about 20cm longer.

BUT it does weigh a little more and oh yeah ITS BRIGHT ORANGE! Not so good for wild camping. I win!

Can we possibly go any cheaper?

I love my Decatthlon T2 ultra light pro..2 man tent 1.8 kg £60 ish packs small, easy to assemble/collapse two skinned, porch..perfect.

I have a Vango Ultralite 200 1.3 kgs. It is easy to put up and has enough room for one with bags or a tight squeeze for two. It is single skin so all the vents need to be open to avoid condensation. I have used it in very severe weather and it is stable and waterproof. It packs small and will fit in a 28 litre Altura Orkney pannier.
I think that Vango have stopped making these but they are still widely available.

yea i have a decathlon near and have taken a look, just looking for some advice on peoples experience of tents of this criteria before i commit to buying one that looks ok by site but could well be a waste of money.

I knew various people had been recommending the T2 but I was being too idle to look up the details. I don't have one of their tents, but from my experience Decathlon own-brand stuff is unbeatable value for money. so if you don't have a sleeping bag or sleeping mat they'd be my first port of call.

Mind you for the money (less than the price a set of Terra Nova tent pegs)the Pro-Action it's a definite bargain.

And as for Terra Nova well they're very nice tents (I have one) but all that money and the tent pegs are chuffing useless!

The Argos Pro Action tent is now £15.99. It's held in rather high esteem by it's users despite the diminutive price tag. Search on this forum and google it for user reviews.

I recently aquired a second hand Vaude Taurus Ultralite which is roomy and lightweight.

Wild Country, which is Terra Nova's sister company make the "Duolite" which is a bit heavier but a sturdy foul weather tent which should keep out the April showers.

NOT HAPPY I paid £17.99 for mine LOL Set it up in the lounge when i got it and could not believe how good it was....must try it in the country though,wife keeps complaining i'm in the way of the telly

I bought my first decent tent (decent for me anyway) last summer, read up loads and plumped for a Quecha T2 Ultralight Pro I think I paid about £65 from ebay.

You can get this tent up in 5 minutes, easy and I found the intergral inner great. Size? I would share with a woman but not a man.

Keep a watch out - they will be back, though the price is a bit of a lottery.

The tent itself is a copy of an American model that would sell somewhere around the £80 - £100 mark if it ever made it over here. At that price it would just be another fairly reasonable tent, but at the Argos special offer prices it's a real bargain. I get the impression that they come in from China or wherever in big batches, and then get sold for a bit at the "standard" price of £48 before being reduced.
From a cycle camping point of view the main problem is that the porch area is pretty small, so you may have to leave the panniers on the bike.

Ah, but I have one from a few years back, that I bought off a friend. Olive green...

Ironic, as I'm probably the person least likely to want to wild camp!

I've only used it a couple of times, and find it works perfectly well for me.

A tip I saw on a touring website, BTW, and have listed in the touring tips above, is to get a tiny little LED torch, something that won't get turned on too easily by mistake (so maybe a twist switch, not a push button) and hang it inside the tent, where it can be rolled up in the whole package, and you always know you have a light in the tent, in a set place.

Now at £50, its a bit of a fiddle to put up (well, took me a while, in the dark, never having seen it before) but its a "proper" tent, would be confident that you'd stay warm and dry. I certainly slept fine in it, and plenty of room for kit in the tent (and panniers under the porch). 2.7kg, and poles are quite short, so should pack ok?

Its also not "hi vis" if you're looking for something discreet.

The Pro Action tent which received such good reviews was the previous model, which was green. The current orange tent has not been as well received amongst the backpacking and wild camping fraternity.

We have a T3 ultralight pro from Decathlon. We could have gone for a T2 but the extra space inside the tent is a bonus for us and something we considered worth the extra weight to carry.
As mentioned up thread Decathlon is quite hard to beat for value, now you can have home delivery as well.
