There are far too many ists and isms these days and it's utterly ridiculous to tie up the courts, cps and taxpayers money with them at the expense of pursuing murderers, rapists, and child molesters.
Cases like these should be decided by an independant lay civil panel and where there is enough evidence that such a thing has taken place then it should be dealt with by mediation and what they call diversity education.

Frankly it staggers me that when we have old ladies being murdered for a couple of quid or less, teenagers shooting and stabbing each other to death on our streets, open gang warfare over the boundry of a f******* postcode FFS and enough drugs being dealt to sink a fleet of supertankers that the Police, CPS & Courts think they can justify wasting time on such drivel instead of concentrating on the really important things that I've listsed.

Thats all I've got to say and I don't care who disagrees as far as I'm concerned I'm 1,000,000,000,1% right.

I dont know much about him...(even as a closet armchair chelsea fan ..oops)...but it seems to me the descision as to who captains england should be based on thier ability to do the job. Is he guilty until proven innocent?? Hmm....seesm that way...I make no judgement on his alleged comments however if he is the best man for the captaincy until he is 'convicted' he should keep the armband unless it is removed because there is better captqain material available to replace him.

Even though innocent until proven guilty, there has to be a question mark over his ability to captain a side with potentially the brother of the person he is alleged to have racially abused playing for and alongside him.

That's not to say I rate Rio Ferdinand either, I'm with Roy Keane "Just because you are paid £120,000-a-week and play well for 20 minutes against Tottenham, you think you are a superstar". It about sums up most of the England side that went to the last world cup. To paraphrase "A Knight's Tale": You have been weighed, you have been measured and you have been found wanting. In what world did you think you could play football on the world stage.

....except for Terry. There's a question mark over his current form (mind you, anybody partnering Luiz is going to struggle) but he has been, since Ferdinand's barvura display in the 2002 World Cup, the best centre back we have. And by far the best captain. Capello was wrong to strip him of the captaincy in 2010 and the FA is wrong to do so given that he's pleading not guilty.

It seems black-and-white to me.
True, it's not as if it's a race against time.

In the Wikepedia list of England captains you will find some names that are part of the English heritage. The most often list is headed by Billy Wright followed by Bobby Moore and other names I considered heroes when I was a young footballer. Do youngsters today look at John Terry as a hero or with the same sense of embarrassment as I do??

If he had an ounce of decency in him then for the sake of the English team and football in general he would have stood down from the captaincy until he is proven innocent in court, as he claims.

By displaying such integrity he could have rightly claimed back the captain's armband, and he would have been applauded for his actions, his image and reputation enhanced.

But this is John Terry we are talking about.

Bearing in mind the only captaincy duty to be performed on the pitch is calling heads or tails when the referee tosses the coin I don't really see what all the fuss is about. It should automatically go to the player with the most caps in my opinion, then all the controversy about who should or shouldn't get it would disappear,

In view of the high profile the job (wrongly) commands I can understand the concerns about Terry, if press reports are to be believed he is not too popular in the England camp to the point where he is shunned by a certain section of the squad.

oh, well, that's it then. Case proved!

Capello's been handed a bit of a problem. No-one that's capable of doing it wants the job. So it seems to me that the FA have been a eensy-teensy-weensy bit silly, because if you're going to sack someone it's as well to have some idea who you would like to replace that person.

So, Ferdinand doesn't want the job, Gerrard has only made eight starts this season and didn't exactly inspire in South Africa. Rooney is suspended for the first part of the tournament, Scott Parker is on the periphery of the squad, Cole.......'nuff said, Lampard may not play, Gareth Barry, Joleon Lescott.......oh, dear.

Contrary to Smokin' Joe's contribution, captains can and sometimes do make a difference, particularly in defence, which is why I don't think Darren Bent will get the gig. My money's on Paul Hart, but throwing away a ready-made captain and giving the armband to the goalkeeper isn't so very clever.
