It was when I saw him host Never Mind the Buzzcocks that I realised how talented he was. In a completely alien environment and a culture he knew little of he was able to do more than hold the show together but to lead it and engage with the audience and contestants. And he was very funny.
Enjoy! He seems to be having fun and the panelists all respect him.
He even has a go at David Bowie towards the end, suggesting he was not easy to interview.

I never really 'got' Terry.

He was good at his job no doubt, professional, and amusing and in real life I expect he was quite a nice bloke.
It's shame he's died and for those who enjoyed his presenting style he will be missed I'm sure. I wouldn't avoid him but for me he rarely added much.

Terry Wogan was very clever with words. who else would talk of Darth Veda as Daft Ada brilliantly funny - may the birds of paradise fly up your nose.

Very much my sentiments, I couldn't listen to him on the radio, he wasn't my idea of a DJ

I always thought that the beauty of that was that one could *almost* see the real Wogan doing something similar.

Wealthy, poor, talented, simple, handsome, ugly, tall, small: we will all go one day. Death is the only thing that makes us equal.
Sorry about Terry, that was a shock when I found out at lunch time but we all know people close to us who share the same fate; they just don't make the news but are missed just as much.

A syrup wearer ? I never knew.

Telegraph obit is nasty and petty and goes on about his alleged five wigs, which sounds completely made up.

When Terry heard his kids were getting grief at school cos people found out who their dad was he said "Whatever they say about me, agree with them". Which is lovely advice and very un-assuming.
