Seen during my last scoot round Tesco.

Now why the hell would you buy "tesco finest" mashed potato?

Surely it is not too time-consuming or difficult to actually buy some actual potatoes, milk, butter, etc and actually make one's own mashed actual potato?

And surely that would be infinitely better than something out of a plastic carton, even if it is tesco's "finest"?! If you look on the back of the carton, the total microwave time is 7 minutes ... but chopping, boiling and mashing potatoes takes about 12 minutes. So you save yourself all of 5 minutes!

That's my little rant for the morning. Now I can have a rant-free day  (perhaps).

for spud's sake, mashed you go on about this every time?

hahaha i like the ready to go omelette mixes too!! society is too busy to mash pots and after all the supermarkets are comsumer led its what we all need. enjoy your day

I seem to recall it being nice and your 12 minutes is way out. Peel and cut and wash, 5 mins, boil 20-25 mins, mash 2 mins, that'll be 27-32 mins, as opposed to prick top, lob in micro, serve.

I never peel spuds, so that's another 5 mins saved. Although if it truly is the finest mash you have to use a bit more time chopping the garlic::blush: That's the closest I could find to a "slurp" emoticon.

My sister used to buy M+S ready made mash, perfect day after the night before food she said with a bit of cheese on top.

A friend saw a packet of ready made pancake mix that said, "just add an egg and milk." So it'll have been a packet of flour then?

My favourite shortcut packet is Colemans Beef Casserole. Just add some worcester sauce and red wine and makes a lovely beef stew, yumm.
