In the same way that ketchup and mayo mixed together makes a perfectly serviceable "thousand island dressing"

The addition of either tabasco or lemon juice to give it an edge works very well.

I used to love that when I was a kid! I went through a weird-eating phase, like some kids do, and at one point all I would eat was bacon, toast and the variety of smash that had herbs in it.

And looking at you in that Avatar it never did you any harm

I see loads of people buying this kind of thing and I just think of them as fools! The extra cost, the inflexibility of portion size, the packaging!

Pointless.

I gave my sister a talking to about buying Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire Puds a while back, often when we have beef I make extra Yorkshires and freeze them. The last time we went to lunch I brought them with me

Yorkshire puds as dessert (with golden syrup and craime fraiche) is a grumpy family tradition.

smash while camping is a real treat IMO

but smash and fry bentos is just something for spoiling yourself with.

pre sliced onions, I saw those in tescos and knew the world had gone mad, if you can't make an onion into a shape for eating then you should check you still actually have hands!

the pasta and salad boxes are very handy when travelling, much cheaper and healthier than eating out in a strange town/city.

Heh, heh. I've just eaten Tesco's finest cheese mash along with finest beef stew in dumplings and followed by finest sticky toffee pudding and I'm washing it down with some Shiraz. All part of some deal Mrs Crackle took a shine too. Saved me no time though I still made the kids their own mash and dinner. I'm stuffed now, I rarely eat so much.

You remind me of one of those back to the past prgrammes where they took a bunch of today's kids back to secondary modern - i'll never forget the look on the teacher's face when she enountered the teen slicing up her first onion...no-one had told her you have to take the brown layer off first...
