I'm sure some of you know. Tesco value lights. front and rear 3 LED with usual steady/flash, fittings and batteries. £6.95. !!!

Now thats a bargian. Just put em on my bike (to supplement the other two pairs) and they look as effective as my catyes ones which were twice the price. Look as if they'll last at least the winter.

So there you go, there really is no excuse.

I bought some their small flashersas an extra for this winter, bargin

Wilkinsons do a similar set, not sure of the price but I think they're even cheaper. At one time they sold the rear on its own for about £2.99 with batteries, but I don't think they do any more. Quite a serviceable rear, worth carrying as a spare which is so cheap you won't mind losing it. The front wasn't up to much though.

At that price, LED lights will be more for being seen by, rather than letting you see where you're going. Not that that's a bad thing, just don't rely on them for cycling down unlit roads...

The little flashers at Tesco are pretty good. A bit like the Back-Upz lights (electron?) on sale a few years ago, only brighter.

I've used the rear as a spare (Ms. P fitted a rear light that didn't have any batteries yesterday) and I've used it as an extra light to fit to the trailer.

Got the £6.95 set last week... the front LED light has a vicious flash mode... it scared me and I was just in my unlit garage! ...especially like the side lighting ring on the front one.

The Tesco Value £6.95 lights look identical to this one, with the front light being 3x green LEDs and a clear lens. Of course there's no guarantee that the Tesco lights have the same power of LEDs as the SMART light, as LED technology changes so fast.

The Tesco lights are OK, nothing brilliant. One set definitely isn't enough, I combined mine with this cheapo set from Wiggle (so I have steady + flashing lights front & back) and feel I'm safe enough on lit roads now.

Well i've had em on for a few commutes now and they seem fine. The front one has a definite green hue to it but on flash its nice and noticeable and the reaer is as bright as my others.

As the doc said, no good for illuminating your path but great for others to notice you. The fittings are cheap and the sear one in particular needed some extra padding to ensure a snug fit on my seatstay, but as an addition to your existing light set up at this price?.......... snaffle em up!

I have a front and rear set from Wilkinsons (also six pounds something, inc batteries) that look like these.

The front one looks white, without any particular greenish tint. I've had them for about 2 months, so a fairly recent model, presumably. (The sets being sold in Aldi, at present, have a very greeny-yellow front light, by comparison).
