Text update:
My trusty Giant Defy has been beautifully brought back to life by a local Bike Mechanic.
On this news I have decided (on my own, and without my wife retracting the offer) that I will not part with any bike cash at this time.
I am being sensible for a change.
I was going to go to the
Evans Sale in Crawley or pick up something in the
Wiggle Sale.
But, to be honest, I just could not do it. I am a fairly impulsive buyer, but with bikes, I think it should be a carefully planned and considered purchase. If you are going to spend 30 hours a month on a bike, it needs to meet my exacting requirements.
I was very close to hitting Add to Basket on a
Mekk Potenza 2 2015 on Wiggle, 40 off at £660, but there were no reviews.
Then I spotted a
Felt F6, also for sale and at £780, a cracking deal.
But I "woosed out"
I have however explained to my wife that knackered bikes do break beyond repair eventually!
Her motivation for me getting a new bike was for me to be safe and to have a reliable bike. My Charity ride on the previous weekend was a bit of a disaster as my chain kept coming off as the front chainring had had it. Then, in the week, my spare Steel road bike self destructed the rear mech and wheel.
With Christmas coming, an unexpected Tax Bill to pay by January 31, a Crown to go in my mouth and new tyres for a car needed, I think I have done the sensible thing.
I hate myself for it.
