I've got two sets of those:

Northumbrian and Uilleann

They're more powerful because they use arm bellows

I'm torn between the soulfulness of the Uilleann pipes and the crispness of the Northumbrian pipes played Billy Pigg style. The open fingering used by Kathryn Tickell is nice but not as appealing to me as the staccato traditional style played by the likes of Adrian Schofield aka Inky Adrian.

Getting back to the original post - the Northumbrian pipes is the superior bit of kit for tyre inflation as it has a closed hole chanter as opposed to the open holed chanters of the Scottish and Irish pipes which need all the finger holes blocking.

Mind you, the Northumbrian chanter would need to have a hole drilled at the end and an adapter fitted to do the job.
