As long as I breathe, I attack.
I do not normally post about near misses as my commute is fairly rural and the only danger zones are a couple of pinch points i use a good primary and have no problems with but coming home this morning after night shift i was a few inches from getting hit by a van .
happened here...
http://goo.gl/maps/vAMso
I was approaching the corner from the direction of the photo when a yellow van came bombing round the corner on my side of the road as if he had cut the apex of the corner .I dived for the kerb and at the last second the van swerved over enough to just miss me and then carried on regardless.
I must admit to shouting a couple of expletives but i was to tired and hungry to play chase the van i i would never have caught it as it was about 6 am with no traffic or lights .

Useful to report the culprit, but no help in avoiding injury!
Good to hear no contact was made.

To quick to get the number plate" big yellow van" is not much for the police to go on and seeing as there was no collision i doubt they would do anything going on previous encounters where in the past i have been threatened and they did nothing " no other witnesses ".
The road is notorious for people parking on double yellows all the time and nowt being done, another reason why i am moving house in the next few weeks (fingered crossed )

I have quite a good skill when it comes to numberplates. I can quickly glance at them and then be able to recite it to myself for the camera to hear. I can also see further than the camera (dont know what pixels eyes work at though).
On the other side of things, if a car passes me too fast for me to see, I can use the camera to follow the path of the car and get a clear image of the numberplate.

There are benefits to having a camera but unless you are sure that something like this will happen again, then it is a bit pointless having one. Mine has become a part of me now. I dont really see it as a tool for just catching bad driving but I see it as more of a hobby. I have quite a lot of free time on my hands and as a result, enjoy cutting down my video files to just incidents or things that I see when out and about. As a result of this hobby, I am starting to upload things other than just bad driving. I currently have my Randoms series and just started my Patience series on my YT channel. Mainly because it just fills my time and I enjoy editing the videos.

I dabbled with cameras a few years ago and in over 20 000 miles of riding i reckon i have had 2 instances where they might have been handy , i put this down to a level head and being able to read the road.
Free time ? i have 2 kids so i have heard of this mythical thing but i cant say i have seen it lately.

Until everyone uses a camera, then the dream would be that everyone would drive safely to avoid being caught on camera.
