One huge benefit of a camera is it records your ride so you have a record of your cycling and how you have tackled different scenarios . This is a benefit because you can look back over the footage and see how you could have done something differently. Its there and you can replay it over and over to see every little detail your memory would not have remembered or would have changed if you doubted the original memory(every time you remember a memory a new one is created and the old was is erased). I would say alot of my improvement in cycling happened after buying a camera as i could see exactly what i had done and what i could or should have done.
Alot of people seem to not know about this side of camera use.
Its not just to record incidents and then report them or post on YouTube. Its an amazing and irreplaceable tool to improve your cycling.

I've made the point several times to folks who've asked about my helmet cam that it has made me a much better and safer cyclist. Have also learned loads from SillyCyclists etc. Having problems with my ContourROAM at the moment though - three weeks out of warranty. Not looking good. I may be about to get my 5th helmet cam! And 6th if I double up and get a rear-facing one too!!

I've been asked about my cam a few times and always answer that it's because I've had a few near misses but I've learnt quite a lot about my own cycling by watching my videos and others commenting on my YT uploads. It was also meant to help curb my temper knowing it's there but that doesn't seem to be working.
