I've got a couple of days off work and an absolutely perfect day for a ride, so....

... I had to stay home and look after autistic son while wifey and daughterey went shopping in Leeds 😔
Cleared out some crap from the garage and gave the car its annual wash though so it's not entirely a write off.

At least there's tomorrow.

Life, work, 2 weeks in the USA, other hobbies and a very small amount of BMX riding - meant I’ve not done a single revolution of something approaching real riding 🙄 for the best part of 5 weeks. I wasn’t expecting much hence - but it was ‘ok’. And I felt surprisingly normal after.

Guess what….it was dark when I set off this Morning. Unlike me to start early hey 🤣

Starting to see the start of some natural light circa 5.40am; and on one of Suffolks finer leafy lanes:

Over the iron Bridge at Beccles - and back into Suffolk from Norfolk:

And way on up high (For flat Suffolk *I nearly had vertigo 🤣🤣🤣) looking down on the river Waveney.

As always…..really enjoyed that. Should cycle more. But there’s so many other things in life I enjoy too. Either way April done - as such…….

And I’m definitely going to cycle tomorrow too. If I have / make time to turn that into a qualifying ride is debatable. We’ll see 😁

Last night I rode the Castle Combe Tuesday.
Andy Cook Cycling organises this event during the summer months for cyclists to use the motor circuit at Castle Combe, a relatively flat course but exposed to the wind !

My plan was to ride 50 kms and I achieved that by doing 17 laps, not as boring as it sounds, in 1 hr 40 minutes averaging in excess of 30 km/h.

Lots of different ability riders out from full on TT riders to young children with their parents.
I'll definitely ride it again and hopefully this time I won't get a puncture on my warm done lap ... How does that happen on a smooth motor racing circuit !!! 🤷

Interesting ride !

*Your puncture couldnt have been that problematic.....surely being 'On Track' - you just rode in and had the Pit-crew attend to it........

I did a similar thing on a singlespeed bike when my sister lived in Towcester. I found out that there was a charity event on at Silverstone so I rode over there and did about an hour. My plan had been to see if I could do 20 miles but the wind and the 'hills' put paid to that. There were unexpected ups and downs round the circuit and the wind was so strong that I was in completely the wrong gear half the time - spinning out downhill with a tailwind or grinding uphill into a headwind. Fun though! I think I managed about 18 miles.

Was there a conversation in last year’s HMCAM chat thread about Centuries and Half-Centuries?

My ride yesterday (posted as a Lunacy Distance ride) was my 100th 50-mile ride – so that’s a Century of Half-Centuries. Not sure I’ve got another 100 half-centuries left in my legs – but I’ll keep plodding on.
I may have mentioned people completing 100 months of the half century challenge which equates to 8 years 4 months not the specific number of half centuries
That has brought to my attention that @kapelmuur has reached the 100 month run this month and @Osprey will if he gets an April ride in

Gorgeous morning in Sunny Radcliffe, West Pennine Moors looking magnificent under cloudless blue skies. New (to me) café in Tockholes provided good coffee and a superb egg and bacon roll for a very reasonable £8. Really nice to be out in short sleeves on the best bike.

Wow ! Well done to all who’ve earned membership of that club ! No doubt at times shunning apathy, lethargy, injury, inclement weather etc etc etc to complete. Kudos one and all 👌

I almost minded to let the 59.8 mile ride slip without comment as it's part of a multi day tour , but 59.8 miles come on surely you could of rounded it up to the next point 🤣 just bad route planning

I must be getting slack I missed this one , youve now brought my attention on to your ride history another 59.3 miles ,2 non rounding up rides in the same month . Must try harder
