Thanks on the photos. Lowestoft is a classified deprived area (Town centre and a few select spots). I think not too far out is lovely. I’m in no rush to swap and get out….

I've just got back from a boating holiday round your way, on the Waveney and Yare. (We considered getting the train into Lowestoft from Oulton, but didn't get round to it in the end). Can confirm, beautiful part of the world -- and surprisingly lumpy in places! Saw plenty of touring cyclists in the towns -- definitely on my list for the future.

Monthly round up we have 21 riders fully posted up for August leaving 2 riders on the nudge list so the gentlest nudge for @bruce1530 and @Bazzer
Thanks for the nudge, but yes I was aware.
It has been an awful August on many fronts, but now done.

My sub-challenge of completing my ride on the first of the month was ruined when I forgot about it when booking in a gas engineer for yesterday.
Done today, with the ride mainly accompanied by spits and spots of rain - actually lovely riding.
View from a lane running from Old Felixstowe to Walton.

Hmmmm. Went out to go slow, enjoy a podcast and enjoy the good Weather forecast. Ended up going faster than I intended. **Despite seriously annoying drivetrain issues from the get-go (Feels like a Fubar’d chain or Cassette). So gears were constantly slipping. Spitting my feet off the flat pedals a couple of times 😡

But both were replaced late July with genuine Shimano items before the Dunwich Dynamo 🙄😫). And I had no issues at all Thursday on the commute 🤷‍♂️

I see that’s elevated me to a meagre (By some standards) 36 points. But hey: That’s now exactly doubled my last years tally already. And is 36 more than the year before 😉 Done aound a seriously hectic lifestyle with various other interests.

What that proves to me - is this topic / thread / Challenge absolutely has, is and will encourage me to ride more and enjoy 2 wheels when I can. Isn’t it is simple as that ?

But you didn't change the chainring(s)...?

If not, that would probably be what I would be doing next!

Up in Penrith for a week so I packed my climbing legs and this morning out the door at first light to get a weather window and avoid the traffic on the climb which is an A road . Rolled out of Penrith and the climbing begins instantly a few rolling hills to Langwathby then onto the A686 and a steady climb to Melmerby then the climb of Hartside pass begins proper ,5 miles elevation gain 1358ft average 5.1% . A very steady climb so it's fine your gear and just spin up . I didn't have worried about the traffic only 1 car past to on the entire climb so you gain elevation the more exposed it is and I could really feel the wind which to be honest was mostly helping ,I was relieved to see the summit sign

After the photo I put on my rain jacket to keep warm on the descent . The descent was really affected by the wind on the top section as the bike felt twitchy as it caught the crosswind as it became more sheltered I could let the speed build and relax and enjoy the descent . A straight ride back would have left me on 29 miles so a quick extra bit on the way back and some more elevation which I did curse to get pass 50km as it's the law ,So 33.2 miles with 3320ft of upness . Timed it right 10 minutes after getting back to base it chucked it down ☔☔
Forgot to mention another top 100 climb ticked off only about 87 to go 😁
