i have a different angle....

The art of stopping is applied when walking, or out on the bike
It is for those cses when you get the group spread across a path or shop, or the person who is trying to barge through

Simply be polite and stop.... make them move round you

I'm the same Crax. I think it boils down to if I stop then I have to get going again and it's harder work than just keeping going. Having said that I'll have a breather at the top of a big hill

I'm out today so I'll try to stop a bit more. There will be cheesy chips involved so it's gonna happen

I usually only stop to pee, even then I only unclip one foot. I would like to stop for more, but kids and family pressures coupled with a sweet tooth mean my actual cycling time needs to be maximised. Afternoon bimbles with the family on the other hand usually involve more stopping than cycling per hour.

I stop quite a lot, I take pictures and I mooch, often I have a pint in a nice pub... the distance is fairly important, but the time taken is less so. I've never thought about my average speed... I've seen It, but I have no idea if it's average, below average, or worse.

Despite this thread, I didn't stop this morning either, well once at the top of a hill to just appreciate the day and watch somebody toil up the other side and if you want to see pictures of what is was like, John59 has posted some excellent piccies of where I passed in the photo of the day thread.

Although I love cycling, i`m usually thinking, OK, let`s get this over with lol. I hate to stop, dunno why. I have a driving job (20 yrs+) in the areas I cycle in so know all the scenery and where every single road goes

Stopped today in the forest to let an on coming horse go by. I was in no hurry, it was good PR forums cyclists, and the lady on the horse had a jolly nice seat.

Until last year, I never used to stop apart from to recover a sensible hr. However, going on longer rides to new plaxes with people at more relaxed pace made me appreciate my surroundings. I'm now quite keen on stopping if I see something of interest....something to remember the ride by.

Quite often, it's a disused railway bridge or station. They fascinate me!
