If the Aussies did truly slow up play to get the game stopped for a draw, then England will take the upper hand to the winter series.
I think winning the series 3-0 means England take the upper hand into the next series !

The saddest thing about this, is the fans in the ground, biting finger nail, all pumped up, probably drunk, and now going home thoroughly disappointed. Not a very good advert for the game is it.
I think today's cricket just wouldn't be cricket were the umpires not to abide by the laws of the game.

That is all well and good, but the members of ICC are paid a lot of money to oversee and control these tests. Surely someone must have seen this scenario playing out one day.
It's a bunch of money types sitting in Dubai, few if any of them are ex-cricketers of any note, and they are beholden to the BCCI and other sources of Indian cash.
The whole thing sucks, especially the way Pakistan are being messed around.

They should hand back control to the MCC...

I agree. We misfired all summer, particularly with the batting, yet when the opportunities came our way, we took them. Compare and contrast with Aus.

It's getting very close now....

I'm just watching highlights on a live stream of a warm up 4 dayer. England are currently 318 for 0. I'm not sure this is an indication of what the pitches will be like for the tests.... But Carberry, who I don't know, looks pretty good indeed.

I was alerted by 'er indores to the highlights of day 1 on something called Pick TV - channel 11 on Freeview. Excellent! Good first day too - ripped thru' 'em.

Australia are mostly reading the newspapers again...while England's bowlers give their feet more punishment, trundling across the Gabba. A match for those with Broad shoulders one hopes. (One hope, indeed)

So, I was up in the night twice with baby and we managed to lose eight wickets in the two hours between me checking the score. I appear to have been transported back to 1995.

Get dancing guys, I think we are going to have to bat out the last 7 sessions. It wont be pretty.

Quelle surprise!

As well as we bowled, our batsman (possibly Carberry excepted) looked rank. Poor technique did for most of them, but credit to the Aussies for coming out fighting.

Hopefully, we can give a better account pf ourselves in the next innings, but I doubt it.
