Well it's been a long time since I posted on this thread, and I never thought I'd be posting a NBD post! But here we are. Through a convuleted series of circumstances I've ended up playing bass in a new band with some very good blues musicians. We had a three hour session last night and I played on a borrowed bass and thoroughly enjoyed it. I figured if I'm going to do this then I'd better do it properly and get something I can practice on, rather than just using the borrowed bass at rehearsals. So I zipped across to my local guitar shop and tried a bunch of basses - and this one, a Tokai Hard Puncher from the 1980s was just the ticket. I already have a Tokai Telecaster from the same era (which I took to the rehearsal but when I heard the other guitar player I left it in the case!) so I know it'll be good. I'm a bit embarrased to say I know very little about playing the bass guitar but I shall endeavour to learn quickly. Meanwhile here's a quick 12 bars that I recorded this afternoon:

Do what Holger Czukay did once in a concert in Augsburg and play just the one note continually throughout the entire gig.

You know it makes sense!

Oh Lucky you, what do you think of annika inspired choice i think, there will always be only one professor but annika rocks all the same.

I was always open minded. After all, The Professor wasnt coming back no matter how much we complained.

Annika came well recommended - Geddy's bass tech spotted her and was blown away - and shes certainly not disappointed. She also a gifted producer and arranger, really knows her music.
