Just bought this Jaguar bass this morning from a professor of music at Legon university here.



Also included for the £180 price was a Fender Rumble 25 amp. Absolute steal.
And it's not the usual Squire Jaguar which is medium scale but long scale with an active pre amp. completely unmarked. 2015 model.
Interesting back story too. The guy has a channel on YouTube. This is him, Austin Maro, very nice guy and nearing retirement now:

I've two short scale planks and try as I might I just don't dig it.

Typically 33.5 to 34", the latter being the scale Leo Fender settled upon after much experimentation and which became the de facto standard.

There's an extra long scale at 35", but not so many about.

For normal (6 string) guitars, short scale is defined as under 24.75", probably because it's the Gibson standard. This means all Gretsches (24.6") are technically short scale, although most people would take it to mean guitars like a Fender Jaguar (24").

Looks like the neck on my new Squire Jaguar bass might be warped. I shall see if I can use it but may have to get a replacement.
So, do I get a genuine Fender neck or a Northwest own import brand? Bit of a price difference.

It's a P unless they make a Jazz.
My Jaguar has 38mm jazz nut and a P has 42mm. That nut looks very narrow and could be 38mm, in which case it might do the job.
An entire new bass for the price of a neck hmm.
Then there's courier cost down here.

Warmoth necks should fit perfectly but are not really cheaper than Fender originals.

I might not have the choice to buy a Fender original as retailers are banned from supplying their products to me here.

Warmouth don't appear to offer bass necks @rogerzilla

If anyone has a source for a supplier of necks I'd appreciate a link. I'm using Northwest Guitars at the mo.

Not me but maybe the counterfeiters in China. They are really so stupid, they make a Jazz bass and then put Yamaha on the headstock.



I contacted the seller telling them it was a fake and they will never believe you. The answer I got was:
"Its original if you don't know I'm telling you "
