Yeah I think so but the sound's got so much processing I'm not sure it makes much difference.

Hopefully, it will only have a minor fault!
I'd advice going for an interface, and upgrading your laptop. You'd probably get some performance out of your current laptop for now, recording at 24bit 44.1. If there any issues, just record at 16bit 44.1 for now.
Are you planning to record vocals, and/or plug in an electric guitar directly?
The speaker in the cab will always make a difference; that's one of the lower end Celestions but it should be fine.
Line 6 do great stuff. I've owned 4 of their products in the last 20 years.

I expect the fact that it's missing the back so it's now effectively open cab will more than make up for any nuances in the way it's been tuned to a specific driver.

OK this thing is bonkers. I've got no idea how to make it behave like a normal amp but it's got some crazy effects and I've found the menu which lets you choose from the tones of your favourite songs.
I need to clean it up and spend some time working it out. This is a complicated beast. Annoyingly all the knobs are digital encoders so changing preset resets everything. There's a short and a long user manual which I'll get round to but for tonight I'm just gonna spend some time having fun and making stupid noises.

picked up my classical for the first time in a few months... only to find that two of the strings had snapped at some unknown moment in time. I'm suspecting a heatwave is to blame?
Probably best to get a back for it, as it was designed that way and will sound better. Open cab is usually about 25% of the back of the cab missing, when tubes were in every amp it would allow the tubes to cool. It would also create a different sound to dedicated cabs which were usually closed back.
You don't have tubes, but it will most probably sound better with its original back.

I'll probably bang a piece of plywood on it at some point. I'm only using it with headphones or at bedroom volume for the time being so it's not gonna make any difference. What I might try is getting a pedal board for it and seeing if I can integrate it with my synth setup. It's all digital so the pedal boards use MIDI.
