***Beans in Wildebeest dilemma conundrum***

Well, you can stuff your prisoners dilemma, because this the the Beans Wildebeest dilemma conundrum.
What happened between the point we actually got to go for a walk and when we did, was quite frankly, brutal and not really family viewing. So this post has been heavily redacted to the point even the now corrupt FBI leadership would be proud of. Stuff that in your soup Bondi/Blanche. I had my arm chewed and there was a tremendous fight and he ended up with not one, but two soggy ears.

Beans has watched his distant cousins in the Serengeti and on the great plains and in bush and jungle - and even in mountain ranges and frozen lands covered in snow and ice seeking their quarry. So logically, there must be wildlife on the prairie at the base of the col de la Smithy hill.
If Beans found a Thomson's Gazelle on the prairie, he could be a Cheetah or a Gerenuk; perhaps a Leopard, or a Llama perhaps a Puma, an Elk a Siberian Tiger and a Wildebeest; a Lion.
However, Beans is only a little chap and any illusions of grandeur would be tempered by the sheer size of these creatures in relation to him that if he did bump into a Wildebeest charging and snorting out of the ditch worth studying, he would probably wish he never did bump into one. And I am certain this was the crux of the matter, hence the very ponderous and hesitant start followed by deathly aggression and attempted mangling of my limbs.

But before the 18+ certified carnage and whilst we were sat there on the pondering rock, I got a shot of the pitiful sun next to the majestic look out post installed by Stormin' Normin' from Enniskillen,

I stole a march on the intrepid Beans mainly because I like my arms my arms and legs.

Then, just yards short of the ditch worth studying, Beans stopped and studied from a safe distance.

...and some considerable pondering followed to the point I was going to abandon him, Beans ventured West in determined mood.

...he ended up somewhere deep in the thicket next to the ditch worth studying. That somewhere is where I left him.

***Beans in non-chemical romance exclusive: big gossip shocker***

Beans jolly walk adventure with pictures suspended due to black and white hornless Bison on the prairie.

Late Saturday night, my daughter awoke to a cat mewing at the back of the house.
We both ventured out to find Beans on the driveway very near this cat and rather curiously, they were quite accepting of each other - as if she was not a stranger to him.
There are lost and found sections on Faceache and other social media locally and I trawled the pages but found nothing that fits the description nor photos.

Darling daughter persuaded me to feed her. She ate well but we had to keep our distance as she is pretty shy - not timid or skittish, just shy which gives me hope. Some strays never become - re-domesticated. For want of a better word.

I spent Sunday morning visiting/texting all 4 'neighbours. One of them who has recently moved in to an old farmhouse has seen the cat and is feeding her occasionally (leaving food for her in an out building) and has done for the last 2 months.

Late Sunday night was a repeat of Saturday night.

I have fed her these last 3 nights at roughly 11pm onwards. This seems to be the time she turns up. Last night was the most promising. I kept my distance whilst she ate and after that she didn't run away; we sat and just casually observed each other. I acted as nonchalant as possible but didn't approach her. A very pretty Tabby. She looks like she is not quite adult. Meanwhile, Beans was apoplectic - I could hear him mewing and scratching at the kitchen door as I had to shut him in. Well, she is chomping his food on his territory.

If this becomes routine and I cannot get her in, come holiday time in 3 weeks, i'm going to be in a fix. I think I might contact the cat sitter to make sure she's getting fed.
I have ordered edible wormer as she is ravenous. The only thing he's bothered about is his food getting chomped. Apart from that, you'd think they lived together.

All being well and light dependent, I shall take some pics of her tonight. Still no missing cat fitting her description in the smalls. She may be chipped, who knows.

***No Beans Jolly walk adventure with pictures disaster***

Breaking: is Beans love sick? Health minister Murray responds to growing speculation as media frenzy reaches fever pitch.

The hornless black and white Bison have been driven off the prairie and in a brief moment between showers, I told Beans that we ought to go for a walk because later we have a little lady to attend to.
Nada. Diddley squat. Not a twitch.

So that was that... like tumbleweed rolling down the empty boulevard of broken dreams. Like that time I unwrapped a birthday present as a little boy only to find an empty box which should have contained a toy soldier. It was suggested that he had "...obviously gone AWOL.". I felt like Caesar at the Pompey in Rome 44 BC, even though it's June.

But let's not go overboard with metaphor because that would be just silly.

Our lady friend who we have called 'Cleo' visited slightly earlier than previously. I was alerted to the fact when Beans came running in - speed is estimated between the noise of the cat flap and the point he reaches me. In winter, he has to go through two of them and if it's 'clack', [very short interval] 'clack', then you know there's a delivery. Two legged upright things in fluorescent jackets are life threatening

However, this is digression (but it does build up the excitement and drama). Beans was telling me that she had arrived. I plied meaty sticks and treats to keep Beans distracted indoors (which I discovered after the event that he didn't actually touch).
The light was poor. Nonetheless, my trusty South Korean portable telephone device with camera facility delivered as best it could given the conditions (other brands are available). Look it's a Tabby @sungod - put that Avocado down.

After the food was consumed at quite a pace, she sat there with paws neatly folded and we quietly observed each other and i mumbled codswallop to her*, whilst contriving large yawns widely, squinting if I looked at her straight and acted as nonchalantly as possible. She stayed a while and was quite calm.

Edible wormer is in the post - somewhere between Milton Keynes and Crewe (both places should be avoided).

*Apparently, talking to your cat familiarises them with your tone and voice.

Further updates will follow. Tune in regularly so you don't miss out.

***Beans stars in midsummer murder***

Mad keen was Beans. We crossed the prairie heading West:

...and arrived at the old wagon road near the Poplar trees where the European Bison used to roam. I told Beans all about the European Bison and how they are re-introducing them in various places. I also told him that they love to roll around in dirt and they can weigh nearly a ton - which is about 692 Beans. Imagine that?! Perhaps they will appear here and then the Wolves will come and we can have fun watching them from the landing window,
Beans studied the earthworks. I said it must be Injuns moving in (or perhaps Warthogs) and they wear face paint and ride horses and one of them is called 'Tonto' and are fine if you don't bother them too much like asking to borrow a cup of sugar or something.

After studying the earthworks for the Wigwam drainage, he studied and he studied.

...and without warning he took a giant leap and caught a vole.

He very proudly dumped it at my feet. It wasn't that long after dinner and I really didn't want to see him chomping this thing - something he rarely does anyway and I thought there was a faint chance it was stunned or playing dead so I launched it far into the soft grass of the adjacent prairie divided by thicket and a ticking metal fence due to fast flowing electrons pulsating along it. Beans though that this was extra fun and tried to find it.

He failed.

Sadly, this is the end of this episode of this very jolly adventure with pictures but don't despair as I have a special Beans on the lookout post not installed by Stormin' Normin from Enniskillen, at the far end of the prairie cut out poster for you. Which is where I left him:
