Another vote for bicarbonate of soda. We give our teapot a regular session with it. Two teaspoons, fill with boiling water and leave overnight.

Just for the record, if anyone should, at some future point, need to know how to get stains off melamine tableware, as used in hospitals in the 1980s (and probably still, for all I know), I have a good method of doing so. :okay:

I haven't had this much fun since Crackle's lawn, Noodley's tree, or your cooker hood. I've even been to the kitchen to have a look at my porcelain mugs, in order to decide whether I should worry about this issue more than I do currently.
