I'm going to one event (Beach Volleyball) but that's it. Won't be anywhere near the 'Olympics Park' stuff.

i know several people who are very interested in this event. have no idea why .

will be watching the opening ceremony on telly and the fireworks from the roof of my house then after that not bothered. currently planning how to get around leytonstone when all ther traffic that ca,'t get on the A12 gets sent down the crap 1 way system along the high road.

Nnnnnnope, I'm still not selling my Paraolympic tickets. If you want to be all bitter about it and stay at home, fine, but I'd rather go and see the ruddy thing at least once in my life!

P.S. Of course it is a cynical money grabbing exercise, I mean, what isn't these days??

The ParaOlympics are another con this time round.

Normally the two Olympic events are paid for prior to the calculation and payout of profits. This is because the PraOlympics is a loss finacially.
London 2012 is the first time that the profits have been calculated and drawn before the ParaOlympics.

(If these Olympic Games are not just for the SE, why didn't they take the MTB and road cycling events to somewhere more challenging and exciting like the Peak District/Yorkshire/Lancashire/Lake District/Wales/Scotland ...?)

You possibly are right, I don't follow it all, I just want to see great sport, that's all (I should be in hospital when the warm up games is on, so I'll miss it, I know I will, so there is no point in worrying about it).

Personally, seeing as it is the first here since 19 bloody 48, I want to make the effort to actually see it, as, who knows when the next one will be? I mean, some of you older peeps will probably be dead by the time next one comes along!!

I'm looking forward to both the Olympics and Paralympics and have managed to get some tickets for both. The Paralympics tickets were a lot easier to get!!!
As with most things these days it's too commercial, but I can't boycott everything (see Tescos thread!).

And I'm going to respond by saying that the lack of a decent sailing venue in London means that Dorset got the honours! So now I'm going ask why the similar lack of a decent MTB venue in London didn't lead to the Peak District/Yorkshire/Lancashire/Lake District/Wales/Scotland hosting the MTB events?
