Another trip coming up at end of June. three nights, but going to opt for the awning rather than set the tent up. Need to trial taking less. TBH, this one we don't need much - check-in Friday, pub tea. Saturday it's up early as we've a coach/ferry trip to Dublin with friends. Won't get back till early hours Sunday morning (like about 1am to 3am). Sunday recover, home on the Monday.

Our mini Tour De Wales is all booked. We've one night that's not booked, but it will be midweek and the site we are planning on going to (Whitesands) doesn't take bookings. Start in Benlech (3 nights), night at Portmeirion, 2 nights at Mwnt, 1 at Whitesands or where ever, and 3 in Tenby. Not sure what after that as we still have time booked off. This trip will be with tent.

Slight plan change. Popping into the site in Dyserth this weekend for one night, as well as the end of June (following weekend for our Dublin day trip). Weather looking amazing and daughter wants a break. Can't leave home till lunchtime Saturday, but we intended just a day at the coast. For £30 for three, we're stopping over, then off to Llyn Padarn for early Sunday morning, as it gets rammed in good weather. Paddleboard and Kayak time.
Minimal stuff, daughter and wife sleep in van, me in the awning. Leave site by 8am.

Looking to replace our lined VW Caddy - British Gas (5m) workvan, not people carrier, with homemade bench/bed. Used this as an occaisonal camper and bike transport for last three years, with a drive-away small side awning as extension for cooking, and a powerbank, coolbox & portapotty.
My main transport has now died. Definately don't want to run two vehicles, so want something for both domestic duties and occaisional camp. Could carry on with the Caddy, but Mrs MM needs to carry extra passengers from time to time and wants a little bit more luxury. I'm looking at nearly-new or even new - I've had too much grief with not-too old second-hand.
Lots of things I'm juggling with. Essentials are - 2 proper back seats when needed, decent RIB type bed (4ft is fine), pop-up roof, and enough space at foot of bed for portapotty. Mrs MM needs it to drive near enough to a car (she's just about ok with the Caddy) and small enough for general parking, Kitchen not really needed (many years back we had a T25 conversion and preferred cooking outdoors, found it easier to wash up outside and CBA filling the water tank), and we're happy cooking outdoors and using a coolbox (but leisure electrics might be nice for lighting coolbox and charging). Not camping in the winter months so heating not essential either.
I'm aware of potential issues with using diesels for lots of short journeys - most of the year it'll only get used a couple of times a week for 2x 20min+ journeys, hopefully this would be ok for diesel? But maybe petrol, hybrid or even full electric. Maybe I just need a long conversation with a decent custom converter - I'm near the Yorkshire/Lancs border if it makes any difference.

Sorry aboout the ramble, but it's helping me focus my thoughts.

I have the equivalent of the Traveller. Would a crew cab work. Ford and VW new Caddy and the ford come in some flexible people carrier ones.

You are looking at custom for pop up roof.

Although the potti fits at the end of our bed system, it's too tight to use with bedding and the air mattresses. We take a cheap Decathlon awning for the loo. Sounds like you need a crew cab/van with a rock and roll bed installing.
