Was that a deliberate miss spelling?
I liked my Allegro. So roomy under the bonnet. As a very ameteur car mechanic, was able to replace the clutch and an engine mount very easily, back in the 70's.

How new was the car when you had to do all that ? Pile of junk they were bought by people in need for an extensive visit to specsavers (sorry).
I am still hoping the true mini will be brought back instead of the fake BMW one. I had a big family MPV and had to look up at one BMW "mini" to see the driver at lights!! The real mini is a small car with a wheel on each corner. It is not much bigger if at all than fiat 500 / 600 car. I think one BMW "mini" is almost range rover sizeDD. That is not a mini car!! So I would like to see a modern, small mini come out in the old mold!!
PS I passed my test in my Mum's D reg mini MAyfair. I have fond memories of driving it with my arms tucked right in, my seat practically in the back and the gear knob was reached under my left knee. My Mum got a fiesta after that and when I drove that it felt weird not feeling jammed up against the door. I used to forget and have to remember that I did not need to drive with my arms tucked tight to the body. So if you saw in the 90s a tall guy flapping his right elbow while driving a fiesta it was just me remembering that I was in a big car now not the true mini!!![]()

It won't be a Capri, unless the driver has a massive perm, sporting a neatly trimmed moustache and is wearing a denim jacket with flares and is manically grappling with the steering wheel trying to avoid doing 360's around roundabouts on a slightly moist day...
A Capri needs rust. And the experience won't be complete if it doesn't struggle to start on a damp morning.
But yourself a 2.8i or 3 litre....
Could also then complete that sentence with: "Also drinks fuel and eats gearboxes....."
Not many left now😳
From AutoExpress:
“Over 640,000 Austin Allegros were built during its near ten-year lifespan and, at the time, it regularly appeared in the list of the top ten selling cars in the UK. As of 2022, there were just over 250 Allegros still registered, meaning it’s a rarity on British roads.”
Ford made a pigs ear of the new Capri, yet VW have now released news of this, the new Karmann Ghia, Ford, hang your heads in shame!

That is how you do that!
