I thought that Hen Cloud had a trig point but, apparently, it doesn't.. So it goes 🤷‍♂️

Becca Bank
Aberford
West Yorkshire

After a vist to the caravan, for a couple of jobs, we drove into Aberford*, & went for a dog-walk
The bankings/earthworks were thought to be Roman occupation era, but date to the Iron Age
That said, the locals probably did use them in defence against the Romans
The 'Kingdom Of Elmet' is still reflected in 2 nearby names (Sherburn-in-Elmet & Barwick-in-Elmet)

* Aberford lies along 'The Great North Road', (the village was bypassed in the 1960s), but still retains most of its charactor, & glorious buildings (including a uniquely named, in the UK, pub & Church)
It's just south-west of 'Bramham Cross-Roads' (where the A1 & A64 intersect), & just north of HookMoor (where the M1 joins the A1)

One i spotted in Hamtun town a week or so ago. It's on the St Giles Parish Centre that doubles up as the blood donoring place.

It's not until into the summer, but we've booked a cottage for a week
'We', being; SWMBO, daughter, her chap, myself
Plus 2 dogs, their new Rottweiler puppy (it'll be about 6 months by that time?) & Doris (our Border Terrier)
We'll be taking 2 cars too, just for flexibility
it's in North Yorkshire (historically, it'd have been the West Riding), & only a few dozen yards from the confluence of Oughtershaw Beck & Greenfields Beck, which then become the River Wharfe

I'm sure I'll see plenty of 'geographs'..............

It looks nice, plus an enclosed garden

We travel up there, next Saturday
(leaving sister-in-law house-sitting)
