the pictures were taken at about 15:45 and as you can see the facilities are not stretched; all the bikes in the cage belong to the council except two and have not been used for the last two months.
there are 10 showers, in the men's and 11 in the lady's, the only lockers in use belong to the 3 envoro wardens, i have been told there is one in being used in the lady's.
you need a swipe card and a individual code to get in to the bike cage so i am happy to leave any of my trikes in the cage.
when the weather gets better there may be a better turn out of riders, some of us are trying to get a buddy system going so new riders can ride in with some one who is happy to ride in traffic.
the electric bikes in the foreground are for people to try out for a week at a time to try and get them in to the mind set of "yes a commute by bike of 5 miles is easy".
the council are paying for a 2hr, one on one training/ finding the best route to get in to the office session and a free bike service for any employee or family member.

it is very rare to see a cycle commuter in Rotherham so the drivers just don't have a clue how to act around bikes. so keep your fingers crossed and hope there will be a lot of people have a go.
the last count i got of riders was 7 out of 2000 staff.

Wow - lots of stands and space ... we have the opposite where by most stands have two bikes attached and sometimes (rarely) I've had to double up (lock my bike over someone elses) - but if so I only do it to someone I know. I did see a note on the stands from someone who was rather irate at being unable to use their bike to get to a meeting when someone had locked their bike over his.

Very different to what i'm used to. bike racks full of bikes, even at this time of year you are looking at +100 every day.
Showers impossible to use between 7.30am - 9am. No spare lockers (i've never had one). Not enough space to hang clothes up to dry.

Wow! We've only recently got a bike shed right up at the back of the car park, right next to the woods where kids supposedly appear from to nick anything not locked down (learned early on when my lights disapeared..)
Unfortunately there's no back so the wind and rain blow straight through and its no better than locking it to the fence as half (3 or 4) the bike commuters seem to..

Knowing Rotherham those cycling facilities are made by the highest bidder , made of solid gold painted over... then they'll scrap them, build them again... then they'll blame the waste of money on Meadowhall. Then they'll demolish them again and build a new council office there and call it a 'renaissance'.

I agree that Rotherham drivers don't know what a cyclist is. That's why they aim cars, buses and trucks at you and throw McDonalds litter into your wheels - they're convinced you're not real.

Rawmarsh is much better now they've smoothed out that suspension busting roundabout.

Wow, facilities.

I'm very used to getting changed in disabled loos and the magic of baby wipes ! I know of one changing room (suitable for 1 person) and that's it, in a multi site organisation.

Nice set up.

It would suggest a council?

I suppose, if the time and money is to be spent on such projects, then time and money should be set aside to promote the facilities too.

I'm reasonably lucky with the facilities at work. Ample space in an underground carpark, excellent showers and a very large cupboard at work to leave clothes and bric-a-brac in.

I thought I was doing well. Office of 22 with one shower, and plenty of railings to lock bikes up to. An air-conditioned server room will dry out wet clothes (!). I am the only one who cycles to work though.

Good to see such great facilities !

Gosh.

I think I'm lucky to be able to put my kit on the radiator or hung up being blown dry by a desk fan. If I'm out of my office, my damp kit has to stay in the panniers, and I have to put it back on at the end of the day - nice !

Another one here with zero facilities. I can keep my bike indoors which is the biggest factor IMO, but I've no changing/drying or shower facilities. Don't mind the shower bit TBH as I only have a short commute, but when it's raining my office/changing room takes on the appearance of a laundry with clothes hung on radiators, heaters and doors.
