No wonder the council tax is so high.

I am so freaking jealous! I mean, our cycling facilities are pretty good, but they're amazing!

We have a cycle cupboard, which fits about 35 bikes in and 6 showers and racks to hang up stuff (but I sit next to the radiator!).
I also have a locker each and lockable drawers.

Some impressive facilities there, im the only one who cycles and we only have 15 or so people working here and the whole office is prob the size of your bike parking so i cant complain about not having facilities, would love a shower installed though

This.

We have a few stands which are in full view of the main Dewsbury road, a bike was nicked last year so we are now allowed (for the time been) to leave under the stairs, the showers are x2 and it seems everyone who has tried to cycle commute has left their towel on the rack, though only two people do there is limited room to dry stuff. I did ask Facilities if they could speak to the landlord about some proper storage but heard nowt back.

Not really surprised there's not many cyclists in n Rotherham, especially when you consider things like the size of the drink problem recently reported. The fact that Jamie Oliver thought it a big enough challenge to set up his 'Ministry' there etc.
Got a question for you Mark - did they ask anyone what they wanted?
RMBC got a mention a couple of years back about how well they consulted the public. It didn't go on to say they then pool all the answers and do what they ****y well wanted to do in the 1st place.
You may sense I've got a bit of a downer on RMBC? It doesn't help when my commute takes me through 4 sets of Major road works, which have all been scheduled at the same time!

This sort of encouragement to cycle is what all employers should be aiming for... it's such a shame that the encouragement thus far doesn't appear to have worked very well given the empty spaces - although we are in the bleakest time of year for a two-wheeled commute.

I have to leave my bike under the stairs with my cycling shoes (they've been banned from the office due to the musky aroma).
I also have to shower in the hospital building across the road, on the top floor in the ladies' washroom! Fortunately they are very accommodating (not in that way).
I also have to hang my kit all around my desk and on the radiator next to my assistant. To his credit, he doesn't complain... (to my face).

I feel pretty lucky that I can get by though. Take away the shower and I don't think I'd do it - that's the vital part for me. Although considering the fact that I work for a company who has signed up to the government's Cycling Guarantee, perhaps what I do is the very least that I should expect, and perhaps even falls short.

Our companies just moved, making my commute 15 instead of 7 miles, each way. TBH I prefer that. They said they want to encourage cycling.. so....
They now have 'improved showering facilities' - 1 shower 80 employees
Previously you could bring your bike inside, find somewhere quiet to store it. Now they've a cheap cycle shelter, complete with wheelbenders (they've not yet fitted the Sheffield stands I managed to persuade them to get). Its 20 yards from the service yard gates. They're unlocked during the day and we've already had to eject 'travelling' types more than once.
When you turn up at 7am however, the gates are locked. So you have to trail your bike through the building and back out again. Fridays, the shopfloor finishes an hour earlier than the offices, so there's potential for all access to the service yard being secured - even from office staff, who may have their bikes outside!
Lockers.... Yes we have lockers. For shopfloor staff. There's no provision for office staff. No drying facilities, although I'm told its now part of the 'factories act'?
The occasional time I do cycle in, I've still secreted my bike somewhere in the building. I'm waiting for the 1st time it rains. I reckon I'll dry my damp sweaty gear infront of the radiator in the office.....

We've got a fence at the side of the carpark(bring your own chain). No showers, no hot water in the tiny bathroom and are not allowed to hang damp clothes in the office, apparantly it smells..... saying that my ocks and gloves are currently drying on the radiator behind me prior to the ride home tonight
