Could start with council employees and contractors.the local drivers are openly hostile, unlike 3 miles down the road in Sheffield which i find very bike friendly. if we could get the police to do some proactive enforcement for a couple of weeks to get the message across, that drivers must behave properly around bikes it might help.
Like when on the approach to the traffic islands, where the herringthorpe leisure centre used to be, Broom Road, riding into Rotherham. BIG bin wagon tries to overtake on the approach (he went into the central lane as if to turn right, down middle lane)
He realised he wasn't going to make it, too late. Threw on his anchors then swung left - as I was at the side of him. Ironically he then pulled into the hospice up the road.
Polite email to RMBC, stating what happened and their potential liabilities should this driver carry on driving in a similar style. What response did I get? A standard "we have received your email, it will get passed to the relevant people" type thing.
Nowt else.
No follow up made me seriously consider becoming a helmet cammer.
