Shame when your lasting memory of some really good acts is a tired revival tour - lots of these 50s guys were really interesting and could actually play. Sonny Curtis of the Crickets made some good records, he wrote 'I fought the Law' best recorded by the Bobby Fuller Four and forever ruined by the dreadful mockney Clash. Revival tours seem to be all the rage now with ghastly acts like Take That, New Kids et al reforming as if we hadn't forgotten how crap they were the first time.

Was listening to 'Chantilly Lace' by the Big Bopper the other day and it reminded me of buddy holly as on the night the Big Bopper and Buddy bet each other for the seat in the airplane and Buddy won. Some luck, huh?

The Big Bopper was on the plane.
