The time goes fast and this day is nearly upon us!

This started as a very silly idea here: https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/the-exurbia-boozer-ride-protoplan-thread.208706/
But somehow people seemed to think it a good idea. The whole concept has been described variously 'A disaster' or more positively 'A glorious shambles'. I think that the latter is the best we can aim for.

The idea emerged from a ride with @theclaud to break her out of the semi-detached suburbia that is Winnersh. En-route many pleasant looking boozers were spotted which in our excitement we singularly failed to visit with the exception of the Flowing Spring at the end of our ride where we ate and consumed several very fine pints of ale (this will in fact be the first stop for an early doors 1200hrs pint).
So now we will make some visitations :-)

Originally there were 12 pubs en-route and in the spirit of planning and mild common sense I have sleeved these down to 4 pubs on a 40 mile route. OK, this is just a beginning. It means that if we make a repeat run we still have 8 as yet untested pubs.
I have tried to boil everybody's good advice (except not to do this) and have come up with the almost definitive plan as follows:

Date: Saturday 4th Feb
Start: Reading Station NORTH side. 11:30 latest meet for register and 11:45 DEPART.

Boozer 1 = The Flowing Spring at Mile #4
http://theflowingspringpub.co.uk/
The Flowing Spring, Henley Road, Playhatch, Oxfordshire RG4 9RB Tel 0118 969 9878

Boozer 2 = The Flowerpot Hotel, Aston at Mile # 11
https://brakspear.co.uk/pub-finder/flowerpot/
Aston, Oxfordshire, RG9 3DG. 01491 574721

Boozer 3 = The Prince Albert at Frieth at Mile #17
http://www.theprincealbert-pub.co.uk/menu.htm
Fingest Road, Frieth, RG9 6PY. 01494 881683

At this point you will need to burn-off some calories and ride a little to the next pub 17 miles away, YES! No beer for 17 miles, after-all you'll have had a bloody good start to the day FFS!!!!
I suggest we use the next pub (Black Horse Checkendon) as our rendezvous before heading back into Suburbia and Reading station for those that need to get back. Do not fear....after the station there will be another pub for those wishing for a longer later session :-)

At Stoke Row around Mile 31 I strongly suggest stopping at 'The Maharajah's Well', not a boozer or a take-away but an interesting piece of local history.

Boozer 4 = The Black Horse at Checkendon. Mile 34
http://www.thegoodpubguide.co.uk/pub/view/Black-Horse-RG8-0TE
NB: Do not take Credit cards!!!

Then onwards as 1 group to Reading station as required. For those staying a while we will finish proceedings at:
https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/berkshire/the-back-of-beyond-reading
A few mins ride or 12 mins stagger to/from the Station.
104–108 Kings Road, Reading, RG1 3BY
There is a beer garden at the rear accessed from a side street which is good for bike parking.

The route is (subject to last minute tweaking @sbird local knowledge welcome) as follows:

http://cycle.travel/map/journey/32983

Oh and finally....the rools. I ask each to carefully consider rool 5.

1. A different beer in each Pub
2. One Joker which may be played when you want a Soft Drink, but only 1.
3. Water may be imbibed along with any volume of beer.
4. Food is up to individuals - bring own, eat en-route as required
5.Only rule 4 applies, please make this a safe and mostly responsible ride.
6. Regroup at Black Horse Checkendon unless informed otherwise on the day.

Please let me know who is coming.
I will expect names and mobile numbers on the day.

Here's hoping!

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Unlikely, I suspect. I'll know better in a week or so whether the mileage is possible, and what diaries look like.
