As any gardener knows, the first cut is the shallowest. Anyway, did mine at the weekend, with a cylinder mower of course, and used a slow-release organic feed.

Did the first cut of the season a couple of weeks ago.

The grass in our back garden is some sort of heavy duty meadow grass variety which grows really fast and thick so it was in urgent need of a cut.

The front lawn is a finer bladed grass (although ours is mostly weeds and clover) and I did go over that with the mower blade set high just to tidy it up a bit. Is there anything that I can treat the front lawn with to replace the weeds, moss and clover and actually get grass back? Or should I dig the whole lot up and start again? Bear in mind that I have no gardening abilities whatsoever.....
