Looking forward to the new season - the players are back for training in 2 weeks. I've got a couple of grounds to tick off - Motherwell and Aberdeen. I pick and choose my away games now so I'll probably do those two and the Hearts games - possibly the best ground to watch football in Scotland, of the ones I've visited. Not been to Celtic and no intention of going. A lot of people complain about the obstructed view for away supporters and at the cup game there last season people said the section stank of rotten fish. So I'll give them and the blue arse cheek a miss.

When my wife's parents were still alive we used to go up to Scotland quite often. Whilst she was spending time with her parents I would go ground hopping. Did about 20. However, and this is the sort of luck I have, I had my most enjoyable time in Coatbridge so Rovers became my team and on subsequent visits just went to watch them.

We've released our new kits, and the away is an absolute belter:

It's a nod to our trip to South Korea in 1995, which surely has to be the wildest trip in 90s Scottish fitba?

The only connection I'm aware of is the Lancashire Rose and that we are the red county. The earliest red shirt I've found is 1978. The quarters are obviously a nod to our historic home kit.

We wore this beauty in 94/95

I watched Blackburn Rovers play at Halifax Town in 1975 wearing red and black stripes, on their way to winning the old Third Division Championship. In 1980 I watched them win promotion from the Third Division at Bury wearing red shirts and I think it was navy blue shorts, with Howard Kendall as player manager.

Don't go there!!:stop: Their owners expect you to work miracles and won't hesitate to sack you if you don't finish in the top 6! Unless they are offering you a crazy amount of money in the contract, with a guaranteed payout of the remainder of the contract if/when they sack you, stay away and enjoy the adulation of the Brentford fans who are just happy to stay in the Premier League for as long as possible!

True!
Ange just won their first cup in nearly 20 years and still got sacked.

The Ange sacking is weird. It's true that their league season was a disaster but they'd all but given when safety was pretty much guaranteed and the Europa League was their only focus.

The problem at the club is Levy and is always going to be.

I disagree. Levy runs Spurs as a profitable business, which is not the norm for a football club. On top of that Tottenham are one of the clubs who as near as it gets to permanent fixtures in the PL, guaranteeing their fans top class football every week despite their poor league position this year, and they play in European competitions more often than most clubs can even dream about - resulting in a trophy this year and they have one of the best stadiums in Europe. Only one club can win the league and only four (Now five) can get into the Champions League - it is arrogance in the extreme to think your club is entitled to be there.

Of course they could always spunk gazillions up the wall on a futile attempt to win the league and end up with a stadium falling to that's bits and a load of non-performing superstars, like some other club I could mention. Or like Leeds who spent decades among the also rans after getting it all wrong.

Football fans should be careful what they wish for, because it goes wrong far more often than it succeeds.
