I can understand that, but if it means yet another five minute delay while the video refs debate whether the ball brushed the defenders toe or not then no thanks.

Totally agree Joe. Being a fan of a "lowly" club VAR only impacts me when I go to the internationals. That particular Belgium v Wales game recently from memory had something like eight minutes "injury time" in each half as every goal / penalty etc seemed to be checked. It's not for me personally.
Very sad news about Joey Jones. Died today aged 70. Far too young.
I loved him as a player as did a lot of Chelsea fans (Also Liverpool and Wrexham fans). Wore his heart on his sleeve when he played. Wasn't afraid to get stuck in and his fist pump was legendary. My mum loved him as he was Welsh and always wanted him to sign for Palace.

The Welsh Premier League clubs are having to install VAR at their grounds for the coming season. It will apparently be a "Cut down" version, whatever that means.

As a supporter from the 60s I clearly remember the famous banner (we had just beaten a French team, a Swiss team and were about to play the German team) and the banner read

Got my season ticket already - superbly good value if anybody in London fancies getting one too.
Don't think my eldest realises how lucky they are to be living in this era of sport though. Remember when a solitary gold medal in a sport nobody does was the most we could hope for?

I watched last night's semi-final and will probably watch Sunday's final. As far as I can recall the only women's matches I've seen on TV. I've seen Rovers women a couple of times and have a vague memory of seeing England women at Ewood 20 - 25 years ago.
One thing which struck me was the very poor quality of TV coverage. There seemed to be only two or three cameras, the main camera was a considerable distance from the pitch and replays didn't really show us much of the incident that was being highlighted. The picture quality was very, very poor. It felt like we had stepped back 30 years or more.
I imagine this is the broadcaster's responsibility. It's something FIFA should consider in future. The quality was so low I found myself wondering if I would bother to watch again. I watch very little TV football, i want my football to be live, but when i do I've been encouraged to expect a far, far better offering than this. I certainly wouldn't watch a game to which I was neutral.
I wonder if I'm alone in this and if it has an impact on audience numbers for women's football?

I get what you're saying, but I didn't think it was bad at all, other than the typically dire ITV commentary. But then I'm used to watching Scottish football in the main, so generally anything is an improvement on that.
I think though that it can go too far: some of the angles and overlayed graphics make it look like you're watching a video game which happened quite regularly at the Club World Cup.

Absolutely. I'm 100% with you on this and often rant about it. However compared to any TV, especially sport, we watch I thought the quality was poor. A better picture and some decent replays from a number of angles would make all the difference.
I appreciate this is down to the broadcaster and not ITV. Yes, the commentary was dire.

DIfferent sport entirely I know, but I think one of my favourite "compare and contrast" bits of coverage is when we get the French pictures for the 6 Nations. They show the game in a totally different way.
Back to the game though, i thought it was a solid if unspectacular performance by England, and it seems fitting that the game was decided on pieces of individual brilliance, particularly the equaliser. The penalty was very soft, but I can see why it was given and even though it was a poor one the following up was absolutely cracking and not an easy thing to do.
I suspect the tabloids will be hoping Germany beat Spain tonight, but to be honest I don't really care who ends up in the final. It's been a great tournament, I particularly liked the Italian Ultras last night.

The main complaint is that with ITV X there is no live timeslip facility, apart from the option of watching the while show, right ftom the 1 hour preview start. I thus recorded it to avoid that problem, having attended the exciting womens cricket international at Chester-Le-Street.
I watched many of the big football matches, especially so the better teams. England seem a paler version of themselves this time round so will really be hoping for a German semi win.
