(Being serious for just one moment) Football might usefully benefit from a facility for 'time off' like wugby and others.

Agreed.

The amount of time added on is getting ridiculous.

A good value day for the license fee, especially useful during this big freeze.
A shame England U17 lost though they always looked fragile.

I think it was one Scotland match I watched a while back that made me consider them totally abysmal. It shows what team spirit and good management can do.

Agreed.

The average EPL match lasts for 100 minutes, with the ball in play for fifty four. I've read a good suggestion that the game should last 60 playing minutes, with the clock stopped every time the ball goes dead. It would ended the added time controversy and get rid of pressure being put on referees as to how much or how little to add, as in the infamous "Fergie time" era.

That is quite similar to the timing system they have in American Football, though that also has the addition of timeouts stopping the clock (up to 3 per team in each half).

Personally, I just think it should be more like high level Rugby, where there are visible stadium clocks, which are linked to the referee's watch. Every time he stops his watch, the stadium clocks also stop, and everybody can see exactly how much playing time is left.

Isn't it that the amount of time wasting is ridiculous? This has been a problem for decades and finally something is being done about it. If cheating teams are punished through losing points that can only be a good thing.

Two minutes for a goal is news to me. Good idea.

And only allow substitutions to be signalled and made while the clock is stopped.

No, I'm not.

He took a Killie side who were bottom of the league into Europe and has had us at the Euros twice and now a World Cup. He knows what he's doing.

Don't particularly understand why you're deriding Greece, who've won a tournament more recently than England.
Firstly: it's all about opinions but if you read the post match comments from the players and the coach, they're in no doubt that they fell beneath the standard required against Greece.
Secondly: where did I deride the Greeks?
Thirdly: what have the English got to do with this.
Alexa: remind me why I don't do football fora?
