Unsurprisingly, Pompey lost to Arsenal. Made them work for it, though...

And somewhat a circular occurrence as the last time the current holders were knocked out by a non league side the winning team was Crystal Palace.

Also worth noting that Palace's last two FA Cup games are by far the biggest victories for one of the clubs playing them - just two different clubs.

Did I see that there was some kind of "FA Cup holders ball" being used in the match? I think the idea was that it would be played with by the champions until such a time as they were knocked out . . . that would be an interesting piece of sports memorabilia

Xabi Alonso has left Real Madrid after only 8 months. They are in 2nd place and only 4 points behind Barca. Very odd, guess he has fallen out with El Presidente Perez.

I wonder, I really do wonder at times. Liverpool's Szoboszlai attempted to back heel the ball to his own keeper in the penalty area. He scuffed the ball and gifted Philips, Barnsley, a tap in. It happens.

The Barnsley manager, Hourihane, described this as "disrespectful." Come on, you're making yourself look a real pratt with that remark. It was a f*** up. A player tries to be just a bit too clever, showboat, and it goes wrong on him. We've all seen and enjoyed those moments. It has nothing to do with respect.

Arne Slot had the right opinion, "weird" and "I prefer to keep my opinion to myself and speak with Dom." In other words Dom is going to get a bollocking!!!

All the Barnsley manager has achieved is to make me laugh at him. Why does the game have to be this way?

My immediate thought was......could he be being lined up to replace Slot ?

Interesting. FSG do seem to prefer stability so I suspect they would want to give Slot time (particularly given the success of last year and all the new signings this year), but it is not out of the question if the next 3 or 4 months go badly.
