The route to Whitstable: will we be 100% on the tarmac? Can I risk the stealth machine with Michelin PR3 or is something more robust advised?
Am starting to get nervous about the hills. This, from having to climb Highgate the other day and feeling the burn from, oooh, about 2seconds in.
(I knew that a commute of 3.5kms doesn't make me a proper cyclist but sheesh...)
Um, is there a 'profile' of this route around? That's so I can scare myself a bit more into taking Red up some more hills before the 27th...

+1 to the two previous comments, Naomi. Highgate's far worse than anything on the Whitstable ride. Nothing as bad as Portnalls Road, for that matter. Lots of little ups and downs, but nothing too nasty. Hillclimbing practice is still a good idea though, for whatever riding you do in future.
How about a +1 to the bit about 'lightening 'ones load' Stu?![]()
Video games? Coollots of uppydownyleftyrighty stuff
Thanks for the encouragement everyone, much appreciated!! Will strip Red naked and keep the load light.
And keep my fingers crossed weather as good as on the Brighton/Bognor rides.

It's not hilly!
Anyway, I must stop speed reading posts. I was starting to get a bit excited.
PS Nice pic.![]()
My PR3s have been on 'Dellzeqq Beach' - near ArundelThey coped with ruts and flints and pebbles and rocks...
Changing them for Ultremos now
Whitstable is alright - the only off-road bit is parking ones bike, gb.
