Paper every time. You can flick back and forward and be able to look at 3 pages at once.

I think you're right there. Still, "epaper" technology is improving...

So hopefully, it will evolve into something you can read in the loo without feeling like a computer geek.

You need to take a look at CES, there's far more knocking around than that. Some of the stuff on display is far better than sony and amazon's current offerings by a long way.

Once Apple (image not actual islate) enter the fray this year the effect on the market could be the same as the iphone.

Tablets are a different matter. There are also a very large number of tablets knocking around at CES.

Depends on the use
For finding information then the screen wins as it is so easy to go to the bit you want.
For dipping into news, I tend to read the news on line rather than going out and buying a papar and like jumping to different papers. So again the screen wins.
I dont really read many novels but would feel a bit of a twat sitting on the train with a gadget for £200 next to someone with a £5 book (especally when the battery in my book runs out!) While I imagine it would be tiring on the eyes, on the plus side I expect you can bump up the text size if needed.

When a comparison is made with the similar revolution in music formats it does give more scope to the author of a book to publish it electronically rather than be at the mercy of a publisher.

I'll start thinking seriously about ebooks when they make one I can drop in the bath without killing it or me or both.

And yes, the DRM thing is a major turnoff
