Great shout, however this version pulls on my strings, mainly due to McGowans voice and delivery of the lyrics and the instrumentation by the band

I've long been an admirer of Eric Bogle who wrote that one along with many other fine songs like 'The Green fields of France' and 'Leaving Nancy' which are more often known for covers of them by other people - though personally I prefer his own original versions. Here's one of his that always brings a lump to my throat.
