Cycling News reporting a new Danish IT software company coming in as title sponsor

Kind of interesting that it seems Ratcliffe will continue as owner but Ineos/Grenadier will be pulled as sponsors.

The team should remain under a British license and continue to be owned by INEOS itself - and its owner Jim Ratcliffe - however the new Danish sponsor would join TotalEnergies as a title sponsor within the coming months. TotalEnergies itself will become one in 2027, having a similar investment of €20 million a year, as well as a lot of French influence.

As well as remaining the owners, I think there's implication that they will remain sponsors in a lesser capacity also. It's clear though, with the problems they're allegedly having in their European business, that they can't keep pace with the requirements of a top title sponsor. Hopefully it has a positive effect on the organisation going forward, the more players involved at the sharp end of races the better.

I think you're absolutely correct, whether there's anyone around who can afford it and is remotely interested is another matter. Given the abject disaster of every sporting endeavour he's embarked upon to this point, I'm surprised he's still involved in any of them.

The reason I'm wondering about Ratcliffe's level of commitment is whether the team will retain its British flavour. One of the things I like about cycling is that it's not enormously nationalistic compared with other sports, but most teams do have a tendency towards the country of their licence even if their riders are a mixed bag of nationalities. OK UAE and Bahrain Rarely-Victorious are exceptions to this.

I'm not much of a flag-waver but it would be a shame if the team were to be cease to be a British licenced team.

I've no idea if that's at all likely.

Though given his focus at Man U, where he sacked staff on minimum wages to save a few quid while paying out suitcasefulls of cash to departing managers, he may be more focused on that end of the scale
