I had my first puncture since last November yesterday. Over six months without one is some going for me,so i'm sad the run has ended but happy that it lasted so long! It happened in Clitheroe Lancs when i was eight miles from home, so i set off walking expecting to make it home in over two hours. I made two miles to Barrow when a couple walked by and offered to help. They phoned a mate who arrived in a car(big flash Audi...don't call Audi drivers to me!;)) with some inner tubes, then they fitted a new tube for me without taking any money for the tube. A very nice gesture indeed,i thanked the couple as i left. If they are looking in then thanks once again:cheers:

It adds a whole new dimension of excitement and a odd sort of pleasurable tension to the day whilst opening the opportunity of meeting with some helpful and thoroughly pleasant strangers, you should try it:smile:.
If you are the cautious type, hide a spare tube in your back pocket, then if pleasant strangers turn out to be in short supply when your tyre goes flat, revert to 'Plan B' and fix it yourself!

Er ... plus a mini-pump or CO2 inflater.
I carry both as I once nipped a new tube with a CO2, so I tend to use the pump just to get a 'little' air in then use the CO2 to properly inflate it.

I agree with that. A mate used up all his CO2 on one multi-puncture ride and ended up using my pump.

I would use CO2 if I were in a hurry, but I am usually not and my pump is easy to use so I don't see the need.
