When I retired from work and received my lump sum as part of my pension. I was going to treat myself to a leather jacket like I wore in punk days. However on thinking about it and what would that look like on a man in his early sixties, I decided it would look ridiculous.
I bought my first tweed suit instead.😎

That's about the same as how/why I started buying tweed. When we get on in life we can probably afford the same clothes we bought in our much younger days, but much better quality. However, we maybe have the spending power, but not the body to carry it off! 🤷 😉

I got some 8-eyelet Derby boots earlier this year and really like them ,expensive but worth it and much better than actual Doc Martins are now (allegedly) and made in the UK.

Yes, it's more 'casuals' than mod. I think both are capable of blending into each other quite easily. To me, the 1980's casual scene was a follow on from the late 1970's mod revival scene.

Indeed, 'SLITS' across the back in studs and nappy pins on the lapels can jar beyond un certain age. But there's leather jackets and leather jackets. Witness my constant spring&autumn companion of 35+ years:

Re-lined, re-zipped, but the pockets remain sound, the whole thing indestructible. It weighs a ton. I feel anything but ridiculous wearing it, and I hope and expect to be wearing it till I pop off. If ever I lost it I would be bereft.

Pushed to name my favourite five possessions, this would be among them, along with my Olmo.

I was never a punk. All that spitting. <shudder>

Are these for me, yes or no?!🤔🧐 I think there's a pair of plus fours or plus twos in the retro clothing shop I work in. They were there a few years ago when I tried them on, fitting perfectly. Obviously If I bought those below or the clothing shop ones I'd need a pair of suitable wool socks and garters.🧐

I have the Churchs version of these, they also came with brown laces, which need changing straight away for yellow or a yellow brown.

Do you think I should get one of those waterproof robes for winter? Instead of wearing it like robe, i can wear it like a coat. So ill have to size down one or two.

Who then wear them to go shopping in supermarkets etc. Some couples even wear matching 'dry robes' either with crocs or wellingtons when out shopping!😏
