One year I went from March till November without wearing trousers, just shorts! It was a very odd sensation putting trousers on my legs for the first time in eight months!!!🤔🧐

I quite like shorts,, particularly as being a big lad I dont do well in the heat, but I get eaten alive by creepy crawlies so hold on until July before switching into them.

They still do, but some look like they are enduring it, not feeling comfortable at all! Why bother?! Unless they have a competition to see who can last the longest before going back to trousers.🤔🧐

There was a local pub landlord (Roland Rathbone was his name) I remember in the 1970's and 1980's who wore high waist trousers like the above. On first seeing him in them and laughing, as you do as a spotty youth, he collared me, telling me in no uncertain terms that he'd tell my dad who was a customer in the pub and also ban me from his pub!😯 Needless to say I never mocked his high waist trousers ever again!🙄😉

Thinking about that pub landlord earlier, he was in the Masons, and also let the plod in from the close by plod station for after hours boozing! That's the sort you don't want to upset!🙄😅 Though give him his due, he did keep a tidy ship, took no messing from anyone out for trouble, and he did give me a reference for a job, with me being successful in my application after his glowing reference!😉👍

Solovair were the original makers of Doc Martins.

Aye, the company has split, with the Doc Martens brand being made abroad. Solovair still remain and are made locally, but no longer have the rights to use the DM name.

Some folk prefer Solovair to the modern DM product, but ive examples of each and cant tell much difference in quality.

Modern Doc Martins are all fashion over substance. They seem very basic these days with quite thin leather.
I not seen any Solovair stuff to compare. Those that Accy has bought are an interesting combo as I think Wildsmith shoes are usually made in Portugal.

It depends on the range. They have several ranges at several different price points, and like for like im not seeing much difference to Solovair. They also do a "Made in England" range which is presumably made in, er, England so,ewhere.
