On looking at the Tokiyos website I now fancy those loafers below. Their shoes are made in Japan, hence the slightly gives it away name. They aren't in the 'premier shoes' league of shoes, but who cares! I've had such shoes and boots costing many hundreds look knackered after a few years, yet many cheaper shoes still looking good over the same period.

Are they not just slippers with a hard wearing sole.

Aren't many loafers like slippers in a way. Some are quite substantial like the Loake ones I have, while some are almost slippers with more robust soles. Those Tokiyos ones are nice for dry summer days, but would look daft on wet summer days, but still wearable in the rain if you aren't bothered about them spoiling.

I’m more of a robust shoe man myself. One never knows if one has make an escape running over broken glass, So it’s best to be prepared.
