That was part of my sales pitch to the wife. I argued we could use the hoist to lift her in her wheelchair and put her in the back.

Not keen

I had similarly predictable outcome explaining that a Landrover 101 was the ideal vehicle to tow her horse box. It was designed from off to tow a light gun, so would have been perfect I'd have thought. She did get a 110 TDi which I thought pretty cool though

A pal used to drive them "for work" and said they did 90!
I'd reckon on an indicated 80MPH, from one that a friend owned
At that speed, the canvas is flapping like crazy, door-tops rattling, absolutely no change of even shouting at each other
Plus........ the scary prospect of braking on aging bar-grips (awful tyres in the wet!!)
The (4-speed) gearbox is shared with the (earlier) 'series 1' Range-Rover, so can accept the overdrive that was optional for that

His usual vehicle was an Abbot so maybe he'd only had the odd go in a 101

:wub:

16 litre/straight-8/supercharged
An old friend of mine once considered buying one, until he did some measuring
It would have easily fit in his yard, behind the house
BUT;
1. he'd have had to ask BT to move the telephone pole by his gates
2. move/dismantle one of his own garages, at a 'pinch point'
3. buy 6 foot of the garden of the neighbour opposite

So, he sensibly stuck with just Atkinson wagons & FIeld-Marshall tractors

If my memory serves me correctly, 16 men & Kit, I'm sure that's what F.i.L told me years ago, the big question is was Ingoldmells ready for the visit!

The pubs wasn’t but we managed to have a good time. I was recruit of the year too wasn’t difficult as I was the only new one.
