A Brompton fits into the boot of a Clubman perfectly, it’s almost if they designed it that way.

Just took my Mini out this morning for a run. Even though they're basic compared to a modern car, they do put a smile on your face.

My synchro/baulk rings in the gearbox really need doing. Not looking forward to dropping the engine just to get access.

SU carbs! At least, i think that's what they're called... haven't had a car with those since about 1990!

In 1972, I sat in one from London to Skye in Scotland. It was cripplingly uncomfortable. I'm sure they are much better these days as they are now about the size of an early Range Rover.

We went from Hertfordshire to the west of Ireland in one; four blokes, tents and caving gear too. Wasn't too bad a trip to be fair.

As an aside when we were about to leave it wouldn't start. Upon opening the bonnet we discovered some scroat had nicked the top half of the SU carburettor so we had do a run round the local scrappy for another before setting off
