It is next to part of the western end of the old John Browns site where they built such famous ships as the HMS Hood, The Queen Mary and Elizabeth and... THE QE2!!

It's now a hospital.

It corners onto Agamemnon Street in Dalmuir, named after the HMS Agamemnon, launched in 1902 or similar.

Many local streets and roads are named after ships built there.

They did have a load of ship building things, but apparently they are in storage and are owned by the Brewery.

Instead, they have a lot of Singer sewing machines as they were made in the nearby factory in Clydebank (there is a railway station simply named 'Singer' which served the factory back then).

A bit rubbish as someone was sitting below and, well, the light anyway:

I agree, the old ship building stuff is in storage at the brewery apparently.

For some reason this thread won't let me post photos, but if you look at the below link you can see they now have four, not eight cask beers on, which isn't bad I suppose.

My ex local's etched glass. Although the pub is called The Victoria, 'Butcher Brigg' is what many know it as because there was a railway bridge leading to the pub before they filled the railway line in, in 1973. That bridge also led to an abbatoir/butcher's shop just past the pub, hence the name.

I've just got back from my 65th birthday pubs event. I wouldn't call it a pub crawl as we only visited four. Out of the four pubs we visited, I have to say that Accrington Wetherspoons was the 'nicest', which tells you something about the other three! In one pub a female took my hat off my head from behind me, saying she wanted to try it on, with her putting it back apologetically after I shouted at her to leave it alone!!! The other two had hideous thumping music on, making conversation impossible! Thank god I made the four mile bus journey home safely! 🙄👎

I have always thought it good manners to remove headwear when indoors.

Another Great Harwood pub, like the previous 'Butcher Brigg' one it's also just off the railway line which closed in the mid 1960's. It's just had an outside paint job and looks rather splendid, wouldn't you say!😎👍

Built in 1879 to accommodate traders travelling to the town on the trains, it still has B&B facilities. I used to clean those windows when I had a window cleaning round!😉

I have always thought it good manners to remove headwear when indoors.

I can't fully remember the photo I posted with that post, if I did post one that is, but If I did it'll have been taken in a rough pub in Accrington where hat wearing etiquette is none existent and to take one's £350 hat off would've been risking it as it would've probably been nicked If I had! I do remember a drunken woman that night taking it off my head while standing behind me, with me telling her in no uncertain terms to put it back immediately!🧐
